How to review a provider fairly and usefully

A good review helps the next customer and encourages a good provider. What to write, what to leave out and how to raise problems first.

When the job is done you can leave the provider a review. It is a small act with a big effect: a good review helps the next customer choose, and fair criticism helps the provider improve.

1. Write what happened

Do not just give stars. A few sentences are enough: what you ordered, how the job went and what was good. "The painting was finished on time, the surface is neat and the provider cleaned up afterwards" says more than five stars without text.

2. Mention whether the agreement held

Did the provider arrive at the agreed time? Did the price hold? Did they answer messages? These are things the next customer wants to know.

3. Stick to the facts

Write about what happened, not about the provider as a person. "The job was finished two days late and we were not told in advance" is useful. "He is an idiot" is not.

4. Raise problems with the provider first

If something went wrong, tell the provider first and give them a chance to put it right. Many problems are solved quickly. If the matter cannot be settled, you can write a review about what happened and how the provider reacted.

5. Do not share personal details

Do not write phone numbers, addresses or other people's names in the review. The review is public.

6. Do it straight away

Write the review soon after the job, while you remember the details. On Palvelunyt.fi you can leave a review once you have marked the job as done.

Examples

  • "I ordered window cleaning on two floors. The provider came at the agreed time, the price was the same as in the quote and the windows were spotless. I recommend them."
  • "The work was well done, but the schedule slipped by a week. We should have been told in advance."
